These objectives have been designed for use with the Axiovert inverted microscopes in biology and medicine. Objectives with long working distances:
LD-ACHROPLAN und
LD-ACHROSTIGMAT.

With the magnifications 20x to 40x, LD objectives (Long Distance) feature longer working distances (distance between front lens and cover slip surface) than objectives with a comparable magnification and are therefore used with specimens with a large cover slip thickness.

Long-distance objectives take into consideration the special optical conditions of tissue culture vessels, flasks, etc., i.e. they are optically corrected for cover slip thicknesses of 0-2 mm in connection with working distances of up to 10.6 mm.
This cover slip correction is performed via an adjustable correction ring or by using special cover slip caps.
