Incorporation of modern data processing in Axioplan 2 and Axiophot 2.

The camera module on the microscope is fully motorized. It is operated by PC (laptop, desktop, etc.). The software runs under Windows and is operated intuitively as usual. On request, the Axioplan 2 - the microscope forming the basis of Axiophot 2 - can be equipped with coded or motorized components.

These features are ideal for many applications where a computer is used in any case. The automatic recording of data and the remote control of functions are no problem for this state-of-the-art microscope. The standard RS 232 C interface ensures that the microscope can be adapted to whatever demands you make on it. Whether for image processing, telepathology or videomicroscopy, the Axiophot 2 is always ready and waiting to communicate with the equipment involved.

Effortless photography, automatically excellent results

One of our central goals in the development of these microscopes was to create an instrument which would ensure that you no longer have to rack your brains when deciding how to expose your specimen. However, if you are an expert and this is no problem for you, the Axiophot 2 offers you all the possibilities you may need.
The interplay of the components is fascinating. If you want true-color photos, the camera module automatically ensures that the right lamp voltage is used for the exposure. In addition, 100 % of the light can be directed to the film, which is especially important for critical applications in fluorescence and for materials applications in incident light darkfield. A simple comparison of the enter key and your specimen suffices to ensure that the optimum exposure time is determined: the keys are not only labeled, but also illustrated. And you have no need to worry about your specimens fading - the fading key will automatically look after that for you too.
The software will even help you if you are exposing films you are not familiar with. If no exposure time is recommended for the film or if you need an additional filter (color compensating filter) for long exposure times, the software will inform you accordingly.
If your Axioplan 2 universal microscope is also extensively motorized, the camera device and the microscope work together so harmoniously that you can set the microscope for the next photo in a matter of seconds. All you then have to do is press the start key.

Image database and databack - the assistants you cannot do without

For every photo, the most important parameters of the microscope are automatically recorded. Even if you forget whether you have taken a certain photo, the database will give you the answer. It is also possible to enter details about the photo. But what use is it having detailed documentation in one hand and several films in the other?
You can use the database to create cross-references to the database which make every photo absolutely unmistakable. To ensure that these references are not actually visible in your frame, you also have the option of recording this information between the frames.
If you wish, you can also include other data in your frame - a reference scale bar, for instance, which will always indicate the right dimension. You will then no longer have any problem estimating structure sizes.

The easy way to focus

Have you often been annoyed at blurred photographs? A standard video camera can be of considerable assistance here! Integrated electronics in the motorized or electronic stand evaluate the image signals coming from the camera and show you in the PC display when the image is in focus. With low-power objectives, this is an advantage which should not be underestimated. It is also a major benefit if several users work with the microscope and the eyepieces have to be continually re-adjusted.
Note: Unlike an autofocus system, the interactive focus finder keeps you in control at all times and a motorized stage drive is not required.
